Pokemon Sword and Shield leakers to pay $150000 in damages

The Pokemon Company has settled its lawsuit against those who published leaked Pokemon Sword and Shield ahead of the release date in 2019.

The defendants are required to pay each $150,000 in damages as well as attorney’s fees, Polygon reported.

The court papers that were filed on the court yesterday state that defendants “stole trading secret information” of Pokemon Company Pokemon Company by “taking illicit photos from an unreleased guide to strategy.” The document also states that the ruling is final and can’t be appealed.

In 2019, pictures taken from the official Pokemon Sword and Shield strategy guide were released on Discord with previously unannounced details like the Gigantamax versions of certain Pokemon.

The Pokemon Company filed a lawsuit in November of 2019 but later found out an defendants employed by the company was producing the book. The person had shared images that were of the publication with the other defendant, who had posted the images online.

In advance of the release of Pokemon Sword and Shield the Portuguese website breached the game’s review embargo and released details regarding the games. Nintendo as well as The Pokemon Company later announced that they was not working with the publication..

The Pokémon Company has settled its lawsuit against the individuals who had leaked Pokémon Sword and Shield ahead of its release in 2019. The two defendants will have to pay $150,000 each in damages and attorneys’ fees, Polygon reported.
