Pokemon BD and SP event : This week, Pokémon Go will have the BD & SP event to honor the arrival of Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
This adds a few Costumed Pokémon starters from Gen 4 that wear hats, which are needed to finish a Collection Challenge.
While looking for these, you may do some practical field research assignments that are only available during the event.
List of Pokémon Go BD and SP Collection Challenges
As part of the event, you need to discover six Gen 4 starters who are dressed up. If you find them all before the event finishes, you will earn more medals for the Collection Challenge.
In the BD & SP Collection Challenge, you have to get the following:
- Turtwig wears Lucas’s cap – Wild Encounter (Part 1) or Field Research (Part 2)
- Chimchar sporting Luca’s cap – A Wild Encounter (Part 1) or Field Research (Part 2)
- Piplup is wearing Luca’s cap – Wild Encounter (Part 1) or Field Research (Part 2)
- Turtwig wears Dawn’s cap – Wild Encounter (Part 2) or Field Research (Part 1)
- Chimchar wears Dawn’s cap – Wild Encounter (Part 2) or Field Research (Part 1)
- Wild Encounter (Part 2) or Field Research – Piplup wearing Dawn’s cap (Part 1)
- Once you’ve gathered these things, you’ll get 1000 XP, 3000 Stardust, and an encounter with a Frosslass. Your Collection Challenge medal count will also get up by one.
In short, both sets of hat Pokémon are always accessible, but each phase of the event has a different way to get them. So, if you want to get them all in Part 1, you can locate Lucas’s hat in the wild and Dawn’s in field research, and if you want to get them all in Part 2, you may do the opposite.
This implies that you may finish the Collection Challenge right immediately if you discover field research. If you’d rather find them in the wild, you’ll have to wait until the change in spawns for Part 2 takes effect.
Last but not least, if you want an extra challenge, any of the above-dressed Pokémon can be shiny if you’re lucky.
Research tasks for BD and SP in the field of Pokémon Go
The other Part’sPart’s hat Pokémon will show up in event-specific field research prizes. This will help you finish the Collection Challenge faster.
As with other events, these research projects will only be available during the event, but you may finish them after the event is over if you keep them.
Here are the field research tasks for BD and SP:
- The prize for catching two Chimchars is Dawn’s hat Chimchar (in Part 1) and Lucas’s hat Chimchar (in Part 2). (during Part 2)
- As a prize for catching two Piplup, you get Dawn’s hat Piplup (in Part 1) and Lucas’s hat Piplup. (during Part 2)
- The reward for catching two Turtwigs is Dawn’s hat Turtwig (in Part 1) and Lucas’s hat Turtwig (in Part 2). (during Part 2)
- The reward for trading a Pokémon: Burmy
- Win a raid reward – Bagon
- Get a prize from a level 3 or higher raid – Shieldon
