Sloppy Mama’s BBQ Starts Serving Breakfast

Sloppy Mama’s Barbeque now serves breakfast items such as buttermilk biscuit sandwiches or hash browns with a special sauce.

From Wednesday to Sunday, the new menu will be available between 8-11 a.m. The restaurant’s standalone eatery is open at 5731 Lee Highway, while the Ballston Quarter food hall is set to reopen on Thursday. Union Market in D.C. remains closed for Sloppy Mama’s.

Joe Neuman, the co-founder of the company, said that the menu will likely expand once the stores start serving breakfast. Future products could include more varieties of biscuit sandwiches, biscuits, gravy, and a breakfast box.

Neuman is hopeful that the breakfast menu will boost sales after the pandemic, which saw sales drop by as much as 60%. Neuman said that Sloppy Mama’s caterer service has lost all business due to the pandemic and therefore needs to increase his revenue in order for his employees to continue working.

Sloppy Mama’s traditional menu includes smoked meats like chicken, prime brisket, and ribs. Sandwiches with coleslaw or a pickle, as well as side dishes like potato salad, collard leaves and mac and cheese are all available.
