Super blood moon lunar eclipse visible over Colorado

In the early morning of the 26th of May large crowds of people gathered in the western portion of the United States for a chance to see a unique lunar phenomenon dubbed Super Blood Moon or supermoon with red blood lunar eclipse.

Based on the media the unique name originates from “several moon phases that produce the appearance of a full moon, which appears larger than normal, then changes color, and is then obscured.”

People living in Denver were fortunate enough to see the eclipse. The first time that a lunar eclipse was accompanied by a supermoon , since the beginning of January in 2019. The next supermoon will occur on May 16th 2022.

Chris as well as Mia Larkins snuggled with blankets on the bench at Sloan’s Lake in Denver.

“It’s quite wild. There was a brief period of just a moment,” Chris said of the moon, “and then just totally gone. We know it’s there but aren’t able to detect it.”

About Lunar Eclipse

A lunar eclipse occurs when the moon is fully encased in the darkest region of Earth’s shadow, directly in front of the sun. In a lunar eclipse the moon’s appearance is dark red hue when it’s in the shadow.

The full moon in May is known as”the Flower Moon, which is generally the name that is given to the full moon that occurs in May. The eclipse is visible through North as well as South America, Antarctica, Western Europe and Africa.

The moon’s color will start in a white color, but will change into gray then change to orange-red. Since the moon is in shadow of Earth and not directly lit by the sun and the sun, the only light it sees is the sunlight that is reddish that passes through the Earth’s atmosphere.

The National Weather Service Forecast Office in Boulder forecasts clear and clear viewing conditions in Denver. There might be a few clouds but nothing will block the moon’s light the National Weather Service meteorologist Zach Hiris said Friday. The forecast doesn’t indicate any significant rainfall anywhere across the country, he noted.

“All things thought about when it comes to an eclipse, in November, it could be more difficult to try to spot this,” Hiris said.

A lunar eclipse can be a worldwide occasion that spans the globe. The moon’s red is visible throughout North as well as Central America, as well as in Ecuador, Colombia, and the western regions in Venezuela and Peru during the totality phase when the moon is within the shadow of Earth, as per NASA. The people in Asia, Australia and New Zealand will also be able see the eclipse.

When the moon is eclipsed on Tuesday, it will be in close proximity to Mars and the red star known as Antares. While this won’t affect the lunar color however, it’s an “fortuitous location” in the three red stars within the night sky explained Jennifer Hoffman, interim director at the University of Denver’s Chamberlin Observatory.

Since the Earth’s shadow is large relative to that of the moon’s shadow so the lunar eclipse could last for a long time. It’s not necessary to hurry out to see it at a certain moment, and you don’t require special equipment to view it either.

“It’s something people can observe with their naked eye. There’s no need to use binoculars or telescopes,” Hranac, who is an amateur astronomer for a long time. “There’s no need to use special filters, eclipse glasses or any other thing. Since you’re watching the moon, it’s enough to get out and enjoy the panorama.”

These lunar events that appear reddish happen only once or twice in the case of a blue moon. You’ll be able to vote on the next president ahead of the lunar eclipse that in the month of March 2025.
