Solid Snake is in reality an authentic replica. It’s one of the eight replicas that were made from “The Most Valuable Soldier in the 20th Century’ , the Big Boss (Naked Snake) as part of the Les Enfants Terribles project, however, only two of them survived the original and Liquid Snake. Both Snakes possess genetic mutations, such that as Solid did not have Big Boss recessive genes, while Liquid had dominating genetics. Liquid Snake was released into Outer Heaven in Metal Gear and defeated the walking tank in Metal Gear, and defeated Big Boss. Then the Snake was taken to Zanzibar Land in Metal Gear 2 (only on the MSX) in attempt to destroy another Metal Gear. Big Boss was killed in Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake. Then , he moved into Alaska and stayed there for nine years. This is where Metal Gear: TTS begins.
Snake is not any father figure since the clone’s name isn’t its real identity. Some may think Big Boss (Naked Snake) to be his father because Snake is the clone of his father. The egg that was the first to hatch came from an Asian woman named EVA who was Snake’s surrogate mother. She considers Snake is her real-life son. Snake has eight siblings (or Clones) five of which were killed in order to boost the soldier gene (6 according to Liquid). Three siblings remain three were: Solid Snake, Liquid Snake and Solidus Snake. Each of them has tried to kill Snake in the hopes of making their “Father’s” desires of Outer Heaven true. But they all passed away (although Revolver Ocelot utilized hypnotherapy and psychoactive substances to make an imaginary doppelganger of Liquid Snake which eventually turning into Liquid Ocelot).
