EA has stated that Battlefield 6 will “take full use of the capability of next-generation platforms,” and that the game would be revealed in early 2021, with a release date towards the end of the year.
In an earnings call with investors, EA CEO Andrew Wilson revealed further facts about Battlefield 6. Wilson stated that Battlefield 6 will take use of the capabilities of both the PS5 and the Xbox Series X, bringing “massive and immersive battlefields to life with more people than ever.” The tournament is notable for putting 64 participants against one other.
Wilson also stated that Battlefield 6 will have “unprecedented scale” maps and that “the next vision of Battlefield takes all the destruction, player agency, and vehicle and weapon fighting that the brand is known for and elevates it to another level.”
Battlefield 6 is expected to be released between early November and December in “Christmas 2021.” Wilson confirmed that the game would be released within this time period and that we will learn more about it shortly.
While Battlefield remains one of the year’s most popular games, it’s fair to say that the newest incarnation, Battlefield 5, did not have the same impact on the game’s user base as prior titles.
Much like Call of Duty, there’s always a debate about the direction and setting of each release, with some players preferring a more military-focused game and others preferring a more modern, futuristic portFor those in the more traditional camp, Wilson has said the next Battlefield game will “mark a return to all-out military warfare”, which should please the purists.
